Terms of Use – IcyTTS

2. Purpose and Scope

IcyTTS is an Android application that converts handwritten input or typed text into speech (Text-to-Speech). It offers two modes:

Free version: includes banner and rewarded ads, up to 3 quick-phrase slots, handwriting recognition, stroke color selection, local TTS voice selection, speech rate control, and basic image import.
Premium version (IcyTTS Premium): removes all ads, expands to 10 quick-phrase slots, enables premium voice catalogs, and grants access to future features.

By downloading, installing, or using IcyTTS, you agree to these Terms of Use (“Terms”). If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please do not use the App.

3. Access and Registration

Free installation: IcyTTS is available at no cost on Google Play. Premium features require an in-app purchase through Google Play Billing.

Requirements: Android 6.0 or higher; for premium voice catalog fetching and ads, a network connection is needed.

Google Account: Not required for core features, but necessary to complete in-app purchases.

4. In-App Purchases and Premium Subscription

4.1 Premium Product

“IcyTTS Premium” is managed and fulfilled exclusively through Google Play Billing.

4.2 Pricing and Billing

Pricing is displayed on Google Play at the time of purchase. Google handles all payment processing and stores payment details under its own policies.

4.3 Activation

Upon confirmation of payment through Google Play, Premium features (ad removal, expanded quick-phrase slots, premium voice access) unlock automatically.

4.4 Cancellations and Refunds

Refunds or cancellations must be requested via the Google Play Store according to its refund policy.
The App itself does not process refunds; exceptions follow Google’s guidelines.

4.5 Restoration of Prior Purchases

On each launch, IcyTTS checks Google Play purchases and re-enables Premium features if previously bought.

5. Advertising and Integration

5.1 Free Version with Ads

Banner ads appear at the top of the main screen.
Rewarded ads display after every 10 handwriting or typed-text recognition events in the free version.

5.2 Ad Consent

By using the free version, you consent to view graphical and video ads served by Google AdMob. The App does not control ad content.

5.3 Premium Ad Removal

Purchasing Premium disables all banner and rewarded ads within the App.

6. User Content and Storage

6.1 Quick Phrases

You may add, edit, or delete quick phrases (3 free, 10 premium). These are stored locally and remain your property; the App does not sync them externally.

6.2 Canvas and Image Import

The App allows you to import images from camera or gallery and draw on a canvas. All stroke data and images are processed on-device and are not uploaded.

6.3 Generated Audio Files

When text or handwriting is converted to speech, MP3 files are generated and saved in the App’s private storage. You may export or share these files at your discretion.

7. Licensing and Intellectual Property

7.1 TTS Framework

Speech synthesis utilizes the native Android TextToSpeech API or Google Cloud TTS for premium voices. Their respective licenses apply.

7.2 App Content

All code, designs, icons, and assets belong to Cocytus, except third-party components. You may not reproduce or distribute the App outside legitimate installation and use.

7.3 User-Provided Content

Your handwritten input, typed text, quick phrases, and generated audio remain your content. The App does not claim any ownership.

8. User Conduct

8.1 Permitted Use

Use handwriting recognition and speech synthesis for personal or educational purposes.
Customize stroke color, voice, and speed.
Manage quick phrases within allotted slots.

8.2 Prohibited Use

Using the App to produce illegal, defamatory, hateful, or infringing content.
Reverse-engineering, modifying, or tampering with the App to bypass Premium features.
Distributing unauthorized copies or derivatives.

8.3 Enforcement

Violation may result in feature disablement, purchase restrictions, or legal action where applicable.

9. Limitation of Liability

9.1 Recognition Accuracy

Handwriting and speech recognition accuracy depends on user input quality and device hardware. No guarantee of 100% accuracy is provided.

9.2 Service Availability

Fetching premium voices and ad serving require an internet connection. Offline functionality is limited to on-device recognition and local TTS.

9.3 Damages

Under no circumstances shall Cocytus be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use or inability to use the App.

10. Modifications and Updates

10.1 Feature Changes

Cocytus may modify, suspend, or discontinue features (including ads, Premium models) at any time without prior notice, beyond in-app announcements or Play Store updates.

10.2 Terms Updates

These Terms may change periodically. The current version is always accessible in the App (Settings → About → Terms). Major updates will be highlighted in-app.

11. Environment and Compatibility

11.1 Preference Persistence

Settings and quick phrases persist locally until you uninstall the App or clear its data.

11.2 Hardware Limitations

Handwriting accuracy and audio playback depend on your device’s hardware capabilities.

12. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of [your jurisdiction]. Disputes shall be resolved in the appropriate courts of [your jurisdiction].
