Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how IcyTTS (hereinafter, “the App”) collects, uses, shares, and protects its users’ information. By downloading or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you need more details or have questions, see the “Contact” section at the end.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information Provided Directly by the User
-
Quick Phrases and User Preferences:
The App allows you to save “quick phrases” and configuration options (e.g., selected TTS voice, stroke color, speech rate). These items are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to external servers.
-
In-App Purchases:
When you purchase any in-app product through Google Play, payment information (e.g., Google Play account details) is processed according to the store’s terms. The App does not handle credit card data directly; that information is managed by Google Play Store.
-
Image Capture & Canvas Input:
The App lets you import photos from your camera or gallery, and draw on a canvas. All images and drawn strokes are processed locally; no images or stroke data are uploaded or shared.
-
Locally Generated Audio Files:
When you convert text or handwriting to speech, the MP3 files are saved on your device. These audio files remain private unless you explicitly export or share them.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
-
Advertising Identifier (Advertising ID):
To display ads, the App uses your device’s Advertising ID (an anonymous identifier that does not reveal your personal identity). Google AdMob may collect this ID to target ads in accordance with its own policies.
-
Performance Metrics and Crash Logs (Anonymous):
The AdMob SDK and Google Mobile Ads may send performance metrics (e.g., load times or crashes) to improve the advertising experience. This is done anonymously and is not linked to your personal data.
-
Remote Voice Catalog Requests:
To populate the list of premium voices, the App makes anonymous requests to the Google Cloud Text-to-Speech API. No user-specific text or personal data is sent in these requests—only metadata about supported voices.
1.3 Ink Recognition and Voice Data (On-Device)
-
On-Device Digital Ink Processing with ML Kit:
When you draw on the canvas, The app analyzes that information locally on your device to convert strokes into text. This information is never sent to external servers, as all recognition computations occur on the device.
-
Use of TextToSpeech (TTS):
The App uses Android’s native TextToSpeech API to play back the recognized text. The processed text never leaves your device or is shared with third parties.
2. How We Use Information
2.1 Core Functionality
-
Recognition and Voice Playback:
Strokes you draw are processed locally to obtain text, which is then read aloud with TTS on your device. This allows you to hear what you write without your content leaving your device.
-
Local Storage of Preferences:
Quick phrases and settings (voice choice, stroke color, speech rate) are stored exclusively on your device to personalize your experience.
2.2 Advertising
-
Banner and Rewarded Ads:
The App displays ads that rely on anonymous data (Advertising ID, IP address, usage metrics) for ad targeting. The App does not store or share personal data for this purpose; AdMob handles all ad-related data per its policies.
-
Rewarded Ad Frequency:
Every 10 recognition events, if you are using the free version, a full-screen ad (RewardedAd) is shown. It does not require any additional information beyond the Advertising ID.
2.3 In-App Purchases
-
If you choose to purchase any in-app product, the transaction is processed through Google Play Billing. The App only receives a confirmation flag and does not store payment details.
-
Once the Premium version is purchased, banner and Ads are disabled.
3. Information Sharing with Third Parties
3.1 Service Providers
-
Google ML Kit:
ML Kit processes ink recognition data on your device. It may download models or usage metrics (without personal data) to improve its API functionality.
-
Google AdMob:
AdMob may collect anonymous data (Advertising ID, IP, performance metrics) to personalize ads. The App does not share your email, name, or other personal information with AdMob.
-
Google Play Billing:
Google Play handles billing and manages your financial information; the App only receives your purchase status.
-
Google Cloud Text-to-Speech API:
The App fetches a list of available premium voices from this API. These requests do not include your text input or any personal identifiers.
3.2 Legal Obligations
We may disclose your information (e.g., Advertising ID or anonymous crash logs) if required by law to cooperate with authorities or investigate fraud. Your drawn strokes, recognized text, or TTS data will never be shared in such investigations.
3.3 Sale of Data
We do not sell your personal information or content. The App does not share your text, voice recordings, or drawing strokes with third parties. Only essential data is shared with ML Kit, AdMob, and Google Play to ensure the App functions properly.
4. Data Retention and Deletion

All MP3 files generated by the App (from handwriting or typed text) remain on your device until you delete them manually or uninstall the App.
